INTRO

Do you need help, could it possibly be help to get on your way to Ancient Greece? Good thing that we are here to help. I assure you that after you read this blog you will learn everything there is to know about Greece. Not only will you learn behavior and culture, but read great stories, learn a new alphabet,cities and states personal achievements, and Olympic games!

GREECE

Have you seen Greece and their cities? Well, that won't be a problem because you'll see nine of them! Greece has history and tales that make their cities unique. Also telling about their G-ds and the fierce army!
CORINTH
-City of artisans and rich merchants
Did you know that it is the home of Sisyphos and Bellerophon, the heroes of Greek Mythology? Corinth also had builders to make war ships and was a very wealthy.
OLYMPIA
-Honoring and celebrating the civilization
Olympia is a sacred place that honors the G-ds and G-ddesses. It is traditional every four years to play games at Olympia. Did you know that even a city that was having war would stop and play in the Olympics to see if their team would win?
MYKENAE
- The age of heroes
Mykenae is one of the most popular cities of all.With heroic adventures and how it was invaded and conquered, and like most of the cities they had art.
SPARTA
-War and Valor
Sparta had military power and people admired them for their war and valor also for keeping Greek values.
Delphi
-The eyes of Hellas and her savior.
Delphi helped save Greece and she had guidance power, so people went their for answers and guidance.
ARGOS
-Artists and able warriors
Argos made inventions like weights and measures.They were also warriors and made art masterpieces. Did you know that Phoroneus(inventor) named this city after his son Argos.
THEBES
-City of legends and the defeater of Sparta
Thebes had an army called Ephameinondas that defeated Sparta and its the home of the legend Herakles(Herakles or Hercules was a half man half G-D that had a ton of strength and was the son of Zeus and Hera.)
ATHENA
-Athena, Queen of Athens
Zeus(G-D of G-Ds)gave Athena her very own city because he loved her probably the most out of all his children. Athena was the G-ddess of wisdom. Also it was the place of humanism and democracy.
SIKYON
-The most ancient Greek state, the cradle of art
Two of the greatest artists lived in Sikyon. Their is also a famouse painting of a tragic death a man named Sikyon drew it.

Etiquette

Behavior in Greece is very easy to learn because they are very kind and sweet. They are warm and welcoming people. They will most likely treat you like a V.I.P, if you are welcomed in to a greeks home. You shouldn't be nervous about anything! Though, you do need to practice because you don't want to end up not knowing anything. Anyways, it's really easy to practice all this because it's just being sweet and kind.

When you meet a greek, just shake his or her hand and you are good. If their children are there too, shake their hands as well. You should also have in mind to have good manners. Also, when you see the same greek more than once, you have to greet them a little differently. For women, kiss their cheek and give them a hug. If you see a greek man again, give him pat on his shoulder. Even though this is what people still do today you have to practice, to be perfect!

What To Pack :)

If you want to look like a real greek, you have to pack the right things to wear. In the winter, most greeks wear wool. In the summer, they wear linen. You can choose what you would like to wear but you would probably wear the right clothes for the weather. Pack around 5 of each because you will be wearing either one daily.

All greeks have perfume. So the perfume you will be using, you have to make with either boiling flowers or herbs. The jewelry most greeks will be wearing are earrings, and any kind of rings. So pack all of those, and you are all set! You might have to try everything on before you go, so you'll get used to it.

HOMER'S ODYSSEY

Greek people were great story tellers, though one of the famous stories about Ancient Greece is Homers Odyssey. Homer's Odyssey is a poem told about a famous hero called King Odysseus. It was right after the Trojan war, which told about a war between the two cities Troy and Sparta. Sparta was a guarded city that the Trojans wanted to get inside. The Trojans had a plan to get inside Sparta by making a "Trojan horse," a wooden horse that the Trojans went inside and gave it to Sparta. They took the horse gleefully. When the Spartians went to bed the Trojans came out and attacked the city by surprise!! After the war Odysseus traveled home but instead he crashed on an island that had a giant one eyed cyclops named Polyphemus. Polyphemus traped them in his cave and ate a few of Odysseus's men. Odysseus got Polyphemus drunk by giving him wine, and after Polyphemus fell asleep,the rest of Odysseus's men took advantage and blinded the cyclops. After Polyphemus cried of pain he went searching for the men, but Odysseus was a step ahead. He and his men hid under the giants massive sheep, and soon enough they were free from Polyphemus. Though they ran away from the giant they still had trouble...make that singing trouble. Odysseus ran into magical creatures called Sirens, they could hypnotize people with their singing. When Odysseus came close to them he was clever and stuffed his mens ears so they couldn't hear.Then he tied himself to the mast, so he could hear advice from the G-ds. Soon enough he came home. Olympics AHH!!!!!!!!

You are now ready to get prepared for the olympic games!!!!!!!!!!! You have to be very serious about this. Everyone loves the olympics but is serious. Try to practice that if you want to look like a good greek athlete. If a greek starts talking to you about it, just act like you are having fun! Though, when it comes to the games, time to be serious! All you have to do is be very competitive.

The greek olympic games, are a little similar to the ones we have today such as, Boxing, Jumping and running. So be ready! Also, practice some wrestling because you might have to do that too! You'll be just fine, if you practice! Remember, you came here for the games not to see the greeks in their funny clothing. Okay, heres a tip: the games i told you that we still have today, are most likely the ones you will be playing. So practice, and you are ready!
